KUALA LUMPUR - Following Malaysia's increasing focus on green technology and sustainable development, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), an agency under the Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma), has organised the Kesuma Green Skills and Green Job Fair.

In conjunction with the Asean Green Jobs Forum, and collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), TalentCorp organised this initiative to raise awareness about green skills and jobs across various sectors in Malaysia among school and university students, as well as Malaysian citizens.

Additionally, the initiative aimed to provide job opportunities to job seekers in the field of green jobs, involving 50 employers offering 3,000 job vacancies from various sectors.

Human Resource Minister, Steven Sim Chee Keong who attended and officiated the event, emphasised the significance of the green economy as a driver of economic growth and environmental conservation.

“Next week, as we celebrate Labour Day, Kesuma is gearing up to champion jobs and skills for all Malaysians. Today marks a milestone as we launch our inaugural Green Skills and Green Jobs Fair, offering 3,000 jobs in the green economy.

“Recognised as Southeast Asia's best in the Energy Transition Index 2023, Malaysia is seizing existing and emerging green opportunities.

“With initiatives like the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap, we aim to capitalise on green growth areas, projecting 310,000 jobs by 2050. In Belanjawan 2024, RM230 billion is allocated for sustainability, translating into quality, high-paying jobs,” he stated.

Steven also noted that last year, Malaysia’s economy offered nearly 30,000 green jobs, with 4,000 more this April.
