BUKIT MERTAJAM - The arrest of Human Resource Minister V Sivakumar's officers was the decision of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), not his, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Anwar said the directive issued by him to the MACC is to take action against anyone if there is a necessity.

"I was informed that some of the Misnister's officers have been arrested. If I am not mistaken, three people (have been arrested).

"That is MACC's decision. Let us not draw any conclusions. I was only told about the arrest," he said when met after chairing the first Penang Bumiputera Development Council Meeting 2023 at the Banquet Hall of the Universiti Tekno today.

So far, two individuals who are also Sivakumar's senior officers have been detained by MACC in relation to the investigation of the case since Thursday.

According to media reports, the arrests are believed to be related to the suspect's alleged establishment of a foreign recruitment agency to obtain the approval from the ministry despite a conflict of interest.
