Two boys drown while swimming in river

SEGAMAT - Two boys drowned while swimming in Pulau Jering River, Kampung Bukit Tunggal here on Friday.
Segamat district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the victims were Muhammad Khalifi Kamaruzaman, 13 and Ahmad Muhammad Ibnu Hermee, 12.
He said police received reports from the victims’ families at 5.10pm.
“Both victims were found after one of their fathers was passing by the area before asking for help from the public.
“With the aid of residents both victims were brought out from the river in an unconscious state. Both victims were confirmed dead at a private clinic here,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Zamry said the victims were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Tunggal and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jementah students.
He said an autopsy is done at the Segamat District Hospital (HDS) Forensice Department on Saturday to identify the cause of death.
“No criminal elements were found on the death of both victims.
“The case is classified as a suddden death report (SDR),” he said.
