PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the Rahmah toll exemption for Aidilfitri for all classes of vehicles.

In a press conference, he said motorists can enjoy the toll exemption for four days from Wednesday to Friday and on Monday.

He said the initiative involved 33 highways to ease the people's plans in making their way back to their hometowns.

"This effort can reduce the cost of paying tolls for those wanting to return to their hometowns to celebrate and ease their planning for their journey," he said.

He said more details regarding the implementation of the free Rahmah Toll will be announced by Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Anwar said the unity government agreed for other special offers to ease burdens and provide good news for the people including the special discounts for police summons.

"The special rate for a month starting on April 21, would apply for all traffic police summon offences in 2022 and prior years.

He said each summon can be paid for at a rate of RM50.

"The special rates will not apply for traffic summons released in 2023.

"However, the police is committed to continue ensuring road safety is maintained optimally especially during this festive season," he said.

He said to ensure the smooth travel of road users in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri police will implement Op Lancar on Tuesday and Wednesday by focusing on routes that are expected to face congestion.

"Op Selamat 20 will be implemented starting on April 20, for seven days with the theme ‘Safe Home, Safe Arrival at Destination’.
