SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's aide said several top leaders of Pas led by Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang have signed a declaration in support of the Malay proclamation.

Abu Bakar Yahya said it was signed in the presence of Mahathir.

Hadi expressed his support for the Malay People's Proclamation on the basis of Islamic principles, as seen in a video clip of the signing shared on the organization's Facebook page.

A video clip of the signing was posted on the Malay People's Proclamation Facebook page where Hadi expressed his support for the proclamation based on Islamic principles.

The Malay People's Proclamation consists of a 12-point document which states that Malays have never dominated the economy of this country.

"Even their small stalls have been taken over by others."

The second and third point was on: "The only power they had, which was politics, has also been taken away from them. The fate of the Malays can no longer be determined by them."

It said the reason was due to the negligence of the Malay leaders themselves. "The scramble for positions and money has destroyed the unity of the Malay race and the weakness of the Malays has even put the sovereignty of the country at risk."

It further said the future of Malays is "now very bleak. Poverty has forced them to sell their lands."

It added that the restoration of the Malay race can only be restored if they unite once again. "Saving the race is a duty, not a matter of racial discrimination," it said.

However, it will become a matter of racial discrimination if the race is allowed to become irrelevant. "Therefore, we call for the setting aside of party and self-interests. Let us come together again, for Religion, Race and Country."
