Stabilise Sabah politics; reinstate terminated positions: DPM
KOTA KINABALU - Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi wants the political situation in Sabah to stabilise to benefit the people in the state.
Accordingly, he hoped that the terminated positions would be reinstated based on the agreement and understanding between political parties that support the Unity Government in Sabah.
"I hope the political situation in Sabah can be stabilised, and I believe the leadership of Barisan Nasional (BN), Parti Warisan (Warisan), Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and our other friends who are working for the federal and state governments can provide stable politics for the development of Sabah as a whole.
"We also hope that the positions that were terminated before can be brought back with the agreement and understanding of the numerous political parties that support the Unity Government in Sabah," he said.
He said this while speaking at the Sabah Umno Liaison Body Aidilfitri Open House here today.
He added that politics should no longer be a problem in Sabah now.
"Hopefully this political issue will no longer be the main issue but, more importantly, the development of the state for the sake of the people," he said.
Meanwhile, Zahid considers the presence of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders at the Open House event he attended earlier a proof of unity between the federal government and the Sabah government.
During his work visit in Sabah, Zahid also attended a gathering at Kota Kinabalu Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Kinarut, Papar.
