Government agrees to establish Special Women’s TVET programme - Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR - The government has agreed to establish a Special Women’s Technical and Vocational (TVET) programme with an initial enrolment of 15,000 women.

Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the establishment of the programme was based on the recommendation of Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad during the policy speech in the 2023 Umno General Assembly.

"I hereby announce the recommendation of the Umno Wanita chief’s proposal to establish a Special Women’s TVET programme through a collaboration between Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka and Universiti Kolej Agro Sains Malaysia.

"I have approved the recruitment of 15,000 women to enter the special TVET programme," he said when delivering the 2023 PAU closing speech at the World Trade Centre (WTC) on Saturday.

Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman revealed to the media on Friday that he had submitted an appeal three times to lift his membership suspension, but so far there has been no update.

He said although the suspension was supposed to be imposed last year, it was postponed to make way for the 15th General Election (GE15) in November last year.

Tajuddin also admitted that he was still loyal to the party and expected the party to accept his appeal so he could return to being a member of the sacred Malay party.

Meanwhile, Zahid said if a person truly loved the party, they would not have been vocal in badmouthing it even if they were suspended or sacked.

"If they really loved the party, then they should agree. They need to follow what Datuk Lokman Noor Adam did before.

"Even though Lokman was sacked from the party, he never attacked the party from outside," he said.
