SHAH ALAM - Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin says the cooperation between Umno and DAP in the unity government continues to be uncomfortable.

He cited the statement made by former DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua, who labeled BN as a "corrupt coalition", suggesting that this sentiment may reflect the true feelings held by DAP supporters.

"What we do know is that based on the reactions at the Umno General Assembly, the support for working with DAP is still met with distaste.

"Pua's statement might indeed reflect the true sentiments of DAP supporters. In essence, this cooperation remains uncomfortable," he said this during Keluar Sekejap Podcast Programme with former Umno Youth deputy chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan, today.

Khairy said therefore, people will have to wait and see on what unfolds in the future within both the parties.

Pua, the former Damansara MP, had previously described the cooperation between BN and Pakatan Harapan as a 'corrupt coalition.'

These claims generated numerous reactions, including from DAP's Anthony Loke, who believed that Pua should refrain from making offensive statements against the main coalition partners in the unity government.

Loke had said that Pua's statements were made in his own individual capacity and did not represent the official position of the coalition.

Umno Youth had strongly criticised Pua's statement as being rude and called on DAP to take appropriate action in response.

Umno Secretary General Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had also urged that Pua should not be nominated as a candidate in the upcoming elections.
