Anwar, Muhyiddin played a role in resolving Felda's settlers debts, says Shahril

Former Umno's information chief Shahril Suffian Hamdan said that the issue should not be a subject of contention for both parties involved.
"The white paper (health) that was discussed in several episodes, which was initiated by Khairy Jamaluddin during his time as the health minister, no minister is seen to be eager to fight over who will implement it.
"So, I feel that sometimes these senior leaders should take an example from their junior counterparts, especially when it comes to serious matters like the health white paper or the issue of Felda settlers' debts," he said.
"The important thing is to address the people's issues and it doesn't matter who takes the credit. If necessary, it's essential to share credit equally, 50-50, as long as the problems are resolved," he said in Keluar Sekejab podcast.
On July 8, Anwar had maintained the stance that the Felda settlers' debt amounting to RM8.3 billion was never settled under the previous government administration under Muhyiddin.
Former Umno Youth chief, Khairy, agrees that both individuals played a role, where it was initiated by Muhyiddin, who made the policy decisions to eliminate the debt.
"It was then continued by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"It should be acknowledged that the former Prime Minister deserves credit but it is essential to address the complete resolution, as I mentioned before, there are still issues with cash flow due to the settlement of Felda settlers' debts.
"Felda needs to pay debts to Maybank and EPF, where the debt arises from Sukuk issuance," said Khairy.
He further said the Prime Minister, who provides assistance, contributes to the efforts benefiting settlers, Felda, and the institution. Therefore, all prime ministers have played a role in these matters.
