SHAH ALAM - The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) urges the Madani government to obey the 3C prohibition which are 'No Conditions', 'No Campaign' and 'No Candidates' to prevent abuse of power in the state polls.

In a statement, Bersih said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim must control Cabinet members and all federal agencies to not make announcements on policies or allocations carelessly that went against the 3Cs.

Bersih stressed that no special announcements targeted for certain states facing the elections should be made to attract votes.

"Any announcement with conditions, including the statements by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Terengganu must be cancelled immediately.

"Anwar and the Madani government must remember that violating the 3Cs would only affect the credibility of the Madani concept until it was seen as a party propaganda and not idealism for the whole country," it said, today.

Yesterday, Zahid who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister agreed to allocate a RM100,000 grant to the Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah) for the purpose of developing the group's activities in the state.

The amount might increase depending on the performance of the group in the state polls.

Besides that, he announced a RM250,000 allocation to the Terengganu Youth Council and RM200, 000 for the state's motorcycle association.

Bersih added that the 3C prohibition was to close the loophole for the provisional government without prohibiting them from carrying out their mandates.

"Bersih would always remain fair, balanced and neutral in observing the behaviour of all political parties and representatives.

"Although this will invite criticisms from parties and their propagandas, Bersih would not be afraid and will not move away from making constructive, reasonable and mature remarks with a firm voice," it said.
