'PN is a threat to Penang's future', says PH Pulau Tikus candidate

PULAU TIKUS - Cancelling the Penang South Islands (PSI) reclamation project will be a great loss to Penang, says DAP Pulau Tikus candidate Joshua Woo Sze Zeng.
Therefore, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is a threat to Penang for seeking to cancel the sourceful project, he added.
"Job opportunities are the first to go down. PSI is already providing jobs to the locals in the fisherman's engagement centre and local businesses.
"All these job opportunities and projects are given to the local contractors.
"Imagine if you cut all these job opportunities; what will happen to the job?" he asked during his walkabout session at Kampung Herriot today.
As a political party, Joshua said PN should aim to create more job opportunities, not otherwise.
"What PN is doing is threatening Penang's future. If you talk about reclamation, there are so many mitigation measures that can minimise the impact and rejuvenate the marine ecology.
"On top of that, we have all these marine studies involving Universiti Sains Malaysia experts to make sure that all these mitigation measures are proactive," he said.
It was reported that Gerakan President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai had asked incumbent Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow to have a debate on the PSI project.
Dominic said the PSI project will have a negative impact on the environment.
