SHAH ALAM - Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who stirred up controversy during his ceramah recently, is seen to give the upper hand to Barisan Nasional (BN) to repulse the 'green wave' in the state polls come Aug 12.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Kuang candidate Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican Habib Merican said Sanusi's action would seem to build a 'fortress' against the 'invasion by the green wave from influencing Selangor voters, especially in Kuang.

"This advantage probably will not be in the form of what I want, but it would be able to isolate and calm the wave from reaching Kuang shores.

""When the caretaker Kedah MB actually came to Selayang and made that controversial speech, I think it shocked and stopped the people of Selangor from being dragged by the green wave.

"I think Selangorian will be more careful in accepting this wave into the state," he said during the Sinar Live programme titled 'Tiga Penjuru: Cabaran Undi Berpecah', hosted by Nurul Riduan Nor Ashaha on Wed.

Previously, a video of Sanusi's speech, where he remarked about the Selangor Sultan’s choice of Amirudin as the menteri besar, had gone viral on TikTok.

In the video, Sanusi draws a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor Sultans before saying the Kedah ruler would not have appointed someone like Amirudin.

On July 15, he also sent a warkah (letter) to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to explain his remarks that were allegedly insulting to the Selangor royal institution.

Sanusi also apologised to the sultan of Selangor.

Further,Hasnal Rezua Merican said that he always takes a precautionary approach to the threat of a 'green wave' that can spread and penetrate the walls in Selangor, including influencing Kuang state assembly voters.

"I don't dismiss the threat posed by the green wave lightly." The green wave can enter the coastal state of Selangor; it can reach the Kuang State Assembly; but for now, I think we can still manage it because it is more about the composition of the people of Selangor itself.

"I think the state of Selangor is not a 'Malay belt' that will immediately be threatened. The people of Selangor are a little more sophisticated; they can think and not get too carried away by sentiments and so on.

"I'm not saying it's not a threat; I'm always careful and will remain careful until Aug 11 to see if the green wave tsunami reaches our 'fortress'," he explained.
