KUALA LUMPUR - Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has advised all parties to focus on serving the nation and communities after the recent state elections.

She said that the representatives who won their respective state seats should put aside their political differences and work together for the good of the people.

"Now is the time to work. We have to stop the political games and get down to business," she said after attending the 2023 Rukun Negara Exploration programme in Kuala Lumpur today.

Fadhlina was responding to a suggestion by Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman for a debate on education with her and Jitra Assemblyman Dr Haim Hilman.

Syahir said that the debate would be a good opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the education system and how to improve it.

However, Fadhlina said that she was not interested in debating with Syahir.

"I am more interested in working with him to improve the education system," she said.

Fadhlina also stressed the importance of educators in fostering the spirit of unity among younger generations.

She said that teachers are the agents of unity and that they play a vital role in instilling the values of tolerance and understanding in students.

"Teachers are the ones who can shape the minds of our children and grandchildren," she said.

The Rukun Negara Exploration programme was held to raise awareness of the Rukun Negara, the Malaysian national ideology.

The programme was attended by students from various schools in Kuala Lumpur.

Fadhlina said that the Rukun Negara Club would be expanded to all schools, including private schools, to promote the spirit of unity among students.

"We want to make sure that all Malaysians, regardless of their race or religion, are united by the Rukun Negara," she said. - AWANI
