ALOR SETAR - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has subtly criticised certain parties for magnifying trivial issues, urging them to focus on deserving women issues.

He said jokes involving him are often misinterpreted by certain parties, leading to any action of his being potrayed as a blunder.

Sanusi added insignificant matters of no value should not be prolonged as those involved harbour no grivences against him.

"Do not magnify small matters. Leave the trivial issues, there are many other tasks to attend to.

"The matter is already resolved. I didn't do err. It's others blaming me for the incident.

"My family and I have no problems," he said during a press conference after chairing the first state exco meeting after the formation of the state government at Wisma Darul Aman today.

The Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman in response to a viral 18-second clip showing him playfully tapping a woman's head with a piece of paper, an incident that has sparked public interest.

Those around him laughed at the incident as it was considered a common joke.

Previously, Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz characterised Sanusi's actions as uncivilized.

However, Sanusi defended his actions on Saturday, describing it as a joke meant to admonish the student for being slow in seeking assistance.

Yesterday, the family of the student requested the public to refrain from sensationalising the incident that took place last Saturday.

TikTok user, MCSyalwa, believed to be the student's mother said their family had no issue with the incident.

Meanwhile, Sanusi questioned Amira Aisya's attempt to magnify trivial matters, urging leaders to focus on more significant women's issues.

"Everything Sanusi does is wrong, that's enough of that," he said.

The Jeneri state assemblyman also advised the concerned leader to focus on women's issues in the capital city, as more advocacy is needed.

"Don't take on everyone's responsibilities. Those who make complaints are mostly in Kuala Lumpur, where there are more problems.

"The biggest women's issues are in Kuala Lumpur, with life pressures, social problems, women's exploitation, women neglect and abuse.

"Engaging in incident of tapping a woman's head with a piece of paper, what kind of work is that?" he said cynically.
