KUALA LUMPUR - A lone motorcyclist performs a jump over 66 Royal Enfield motorcycles is one of the heart-stopping performances promised by the Army Red Warrior Motorcycle Acrobatics team as part of the National Day celebration which will take place at Dataran Putrajaya, on Aug 31.

Even more impressive the stunt will be performed by Sergeant Saidatul Husna Kamaruddin, 34, using a 250cc Kawasaki Scrambler, while the 66 Royal Enfield motorcycles are to symbolise the country's 66th year of independence.

Army Red Warrior commanding officer Major Mohd Shah Rizad Mohd Yusof said the performance on National Day will be the first collaboration between the Army Red Warrior team and the global brand, Royal Enfield.

He said Saidatul Husna, the record holder of the Longest Motorcycle Jump (Female) in the Malaysian Book of Records (MBOR) will perform the jump, more than 30 metres, on Aug 31, through the special performance slot of Malaysia Madani under the strength and efficiency segment, which will definitely wow the spectators.

"There are two types of motorcycles used by the Army Red Warrior team for acrobatic stunts; the first is a carrier motorcycle with riders who will showcase skills in various formations while a scrambler motorcycle is used for more extreme stunts,” he said.

Mohd Shah Rizad said as part of the preparations for the upcoming performance, the team, which consisted of two officers and 48 members, started training on Aug 7, while logistical preparations such as motorcycle maintenance were made earlier.

He added that as the training entered the final stage, 20 stuntmen and two stuntwomen including Saidatul Husna showed a high level of commitment and motivation to make the show a success.

"As this is not the first performance, their performance has been very satisfactory, thus far. Their selection is also made according to three principles which are skill, knowledge and attitude, I am sure they can deliver their best.

Meanwhile, Saidatul Husna could not hide her excitement to make the historic jump on Aug 31, which is also her birthday.

"I'm excited, but at the same time nervous so I have to prepare mentally and physically as much as possible to ensure the success of this mission.

"For the jump, I am using a 250cc Kawasaki Scrambler, the same type I used to when creating a record at MBOR at the Army Tattoo held in conjunction with the 90th Army Day in Port Dickson, in March,” said Saidatul Husna who has been with Army Red Warrior for 13 years.

"The training with the actual distance will be conducted in Putrajaya during the partial rehearsal on Aug 28. The training which I am doing now to build my confidence even though I have done this kind of stunt several times,” said the mother of one.

On Aug 31, Army Red Warrior will feature 19 motorcycles including Scrambler Kawasaki KLX 450cc and 250cc; Naza Cruise 250cc, Honda CB400, Birmingham Small Arms (BSA), Guzzi and Modenas Jaguh.

Not aiming to create any records at the upcoming performance, Army Red Warrior is however excited to successfully jump over 66 motorcycles, for the first time in its history. - BERNAMA
