PUTRAJAYA - The organisation of the Malaysia #QuranHour is in line with the government's intention to encourage the people towards approaching the Quran.

Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff said the efforts were done to ensure that the Quran could be made a guideline for the public.

She said Jakim used multiple methods and platforms to attract the public’s interests towards the Quran.

“For example, we recently finished organising the 2023 International Level Quran Recital Ceremony.

“When we cultivate it, we can produce a society that truly appreciates a religious life,” she said.

Hakimah added that entering the ninth year of Malaysia #QuranHour, she saw it was continuing to gain a place among the public.

“The support received yearly is increasing. This programme is not only focused on reciting the Quran. We are also inserting different themes and campaigns whenever it’s organised.

“The interesting part this time was that we received participation from non-Muslims. This shows the beauty of Malaysia’s plural society.
