KUALA LUMPUR - Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man admitted that the issue of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's discharge without acquittal (DNAA) will be part of Perikatan Nasional's (PN) campaign in the upcoming Pelangai by-election.

The Kubang Kerian Member of Parliament described the issue as a 'liability ball' that needs to be used so that the public can assess the situation.

"Whoever doesn't take this opportunity (DNAA issue) will miss out the most because this is a responsibility. For me, any issue that causes national and public interest will be brought up (in the campaign) and I'm sure the government knows.

"The only thing that is being disputed now is we need to get an explanation from the Attorney General's Chambers as to why the prosecution did not resume," he said at the Parliament lobby today.

The issue had become a dispute among opposition MPs in the Dewan Rakyat since the first day of the special session last Monday.

Meanwhile, with regards to the act of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) withdrawing its support from the government, Ibrahim said that PN welcomes the move by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who upholds the principle of fighting corruption.

"We are not disputing the court, but people are disputing why the Attorney General did not proceed with the prosecution when there was already a prima facie.

"When there is evidence, it cannot be withdrawn. That's why people had questioned Tuan Guru's (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang) statement. In Islam, there is (DNAA), but only if the process has not begun and there is no proof.

"As for which seat to fill in, that is each person's right. It does not mean that if we are on the government's side, we cannot voice our principle.

"That is an example of a government Member of Parliament who is vocal and reprimanding. That is actually what democracy is all about," he said.
