SHAH ALAM - The alleged reform agenda is no longer the government's priority following the court's decision to release without acquittal (DNAA) Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

The Tasek Gelugor MP said that after Pakatan Harapan (PH) became the government, several cases involved acquitted politicians, causing speculation from various parties.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief also accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of failing to give proper explanations to the people about the situation in the country's legal system.

"I think this is what the government wants now when individuals whose integrity and credibility were previously questioned are finally freed from all charges by using existing powers.

"This matter has caused the reforms formed by the PH government and Barisan Nasional (BN) to be dead for a long time," he said during Wacana Sinar series 413 entitled 'DNAA: Dilemma of the Public Prosecutor's decision' hosted by Ismail Adnan yesterday.

Wan Saiful said the call for the separation of powers between the Attorney-General and the Public Prosecutor needs to be implemented immediately to ensure that every individual found guilty undergoes a fair legal process.

He also explained that the government led by Anwar seems to have forgotten the agenda of separation of executive, legislative, and judiciary powers which PH has been fighting for.

Wan Saiful said that if PH-BN fails to implement these reforms, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is ready to bring about the institutional changes that they have consistently fought for.

"The demanded separation of powers between the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor seems to have been forgotten by the government even though we have started fighting for this issue since 2010.

"If PH-BN cannot do it, PN can do it because we are more consistent in reforms than the current government," Wan Saiful said.
