Employee exposes MYAirline's "closure" on TikTok

SHAH ALAM - A woman recently shed light on the abrupt suspension of operations by the low-cost airline MYAirline, which took effect on Oct 12, with no announced end date.
According to a video shared by an employee, Cecilia Thirstcher, the management informed the staff that all flights for the following day had been cancelled.
"Then, at 3.30am on Oct 12, the company communicated the sudden closure of its operations, with the last passenger being processed at 4.37 am.
"On the same day, at 7am, we were instructed to vacate the office," she said in a video uploaded on TikTok last Friday.
Sinar reported on Thursday that MYAirline cited financial pressures as the primary reason for suspending its operations.
This was compounded by the necessity to await shareholder restructuring and the rejuvenation of the company's capital.
In another video, also shared by Cecilia on TikTok, she revealed that the staff had been kept in the dark about the issue from the beginning.
"For the past month, our attention was solely focused on internal matters that were still being negotiated, and we had been hopeful that things would resolve in favor of the staff.
"Our employment status remains unchanged as MYAirline staff, with no terminations initiated unless we opt to resign.
"Some of us may consider seeking alternative employment opportunities," she added.
