PUTRAJAYA - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied that he would be resigning,as claimed by certain parties.

Rumours of Zahid's resignation started to swirl around due to his health status.

"I myself did not know that I would do such a thing (resign)," he said at a press conference after officiating the launching ceremony of the Polytechnic Transformation Direction Plan 2023-2030 here on Monday.

He said the medical procedure he underwent recently was prostate surgery and had nothing to do with prostate cancer.

"All men have prostates, either large or small.

"But don't make all sorts of speculations," he said.

Zahid, who is also Umno president, was commenting on Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin's claim that he would be resigning from his posts due to health problems.

He added that he had recovered and is now back to work after completing the procedure.

Zahid said he is back to health and back to work after completing the procedure.

"Alhamdulillah, I am healthy because of everyone's prayers, including the people who prayed for me to do things I never thought of," he said.

Last Friday, Zahid returned to duty by attending a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after a period of rest after undergoing surgery recently.

Zahid who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, was seen present in the meeting room in a cheerful state when registering for the National Digital Identity, or Digital ID.

On Nov 19, his eldest daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah confirmed through a post on Instagram that her father is in good health after undergoing a surgical procedure on Nov 14.
