Zayn Rayyan’s murder: Police combing through people with past criminal, sexual offence records

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the police would carry out a thorough investigation including a review of existing criminal records.
"This involves Mask Genius Screening, which is a fingerprint data of people with criminal records including groups involved in sexual offences.
"We will focus on those living around the area as well as those who live outside the area," he told reporters when met at the Damansara Damai Apartment here on Friday.
Hussein added that the evidence obtained so far was limited which made it difficult to make any arrests.
"The murder of the victim is a straightforward case, the investigations are still ongoing.
"All case items obtained during the post-mortem including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) tests and fingerprints believed to belong to the suspect were sent to the Malaysian Chemicals Department to obtain related forensic information," he said.
Hussein said that the results of the analysis would be obtained soon.
"The DNA acid test and fingerprints are very important to help get information that leads to those involved in this incident," he said.
Zayn, who was reported missing since noon in Damansara Damai on Tuesday was found dead near a creek located 200 metres from his residence on Wednesday night.
The boy was last seen at his home in Blok R, Apartment Idaman, Jalan PJU 10/1 Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya at 12 noon.
Following that, the body of the child was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem.
The autopsy revealed strangulation marks on the child's neck and bruises on his body related to criminal acts.
