BACHOK - An 86-year-old resident from Kampung Aman, Kandis, expressed gratitude as his proposal was accepted after a year of courtship with the woman of his dreams.

Abdullah Ali, a father of three children aged between 60 and 65, said that his proposal had been rejected by his now-wife, Siti Zabidah Zakaria, 63, who was not ready for marriage at that time.

"After being rejected, I did not lose hope. I spent a year trying to win her heart, and thankfully, our fate was sealed, and we were united last Saturday," he told reporters when met on Monday.

The wedding ceremony of Abdullah and Zabidah that was held at Al-Abrar Mosque in Mukim Pauh Sembilan on Saturday went viral on TikTok.

Abdullah said Zabidah's gentle and tender nature attracted him to the woman who has two children in their forties.

He emphasised that it was not easy to win Zabidah's heart initially because she had no desire to get married.

Abdullah said this was because Zabidah had been married twice before and both of her husbands had passed away in 2003 and 2021.

"Besides, both of us were living alone. Coincidentally, my children are of the same age as my wife and gave their blessings for us to unite," he said.

Abdullah highlighted that marriage was more about finding a companion to spend the remaining years of life with.

He said his vision was still clear and he could still drive so he was delighted to take Zabidah on outings.

The farmer said that they both did not have illnesses despite their age.
