SHAH ALAM - Artificial intelligence (AI) technology helps save time by quickly detecting various cyber-attacks, thus allowing for swift actions to safeguard the information technology (IT) systems that companies use.

Digital Malaysia Foundation (YDM) chief executive officer Ts Nasru Syazwan Nawai said as an organisation that also offered online learning, they have chosen to use AI for the purpose of protecting the developed systems.

He said the AI applications in use were also a product developed by YDM's own technology team, in addition to offering subscriptions to individuals or other companies.

"In the digital era, where cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated, it is important for every government or business entity to implement advanced security measures to protect critical assets and customer data.

"Our team has developed a cybersecurity product, the Blackhound AiXDR application - an AI-powered advanced detection and response platform specifically designed to address evolving challenges in the cybersecurity landscape.

"YDM also uses this application to protect our IT equipment. It saves time because previously we relied entirely on human resources if a cyber-attack occurred due to non-automatic systems. So, with this, we can identify and take immediate action," Nasru told Sinar.

Commenting further, he said based on his experience implementing AI in the organisation, it should not be seen as a threat but rather as a transformation of the job landscape, involving collaboration with humans.

Nasru said AI was often used to enhance productivity and assist humans in decision-making by providing faster and more accurate data analysis.

"Jobs that involve labour-intensive work with routine tasks will be replaced by the use of AI.

"On the other hand, labour is required extensively in the field of developing these AI systems. Here, we will see an increased demand for jobs such as 'system developer,' 'system integrator,' 'coders,' 'data analytics' and several other highly skilled jobs," he added.

However, Nasru believed that not all jobs can be replaced by AI and still depended on human capabilities for jobs involving human relationships.
