JOHOR BAHRU - Singapore has consistently been recognised as an ideal place to live and work, thanks to its stable political environment, implementation of advanced standards and systems, assured social security and most importantly, its currency.

These factors continue to drive locals, not only from Johor but also from other states, to cross the Johor Causeway in pursuit of prospects and opportunities in the neighbouring country, which is closest to Malaysia.

Siti Fatimatulzahara Abdul Jamil, 29, said that she had successfully adapted to the lifestyle and work culture in Singapore.

Fatimatulzahra, who was promoted to manager at a food and beverage (F&B) network last year, started working in the republic in 2021.

"I started working in the F&B business from the bottom, involving all operations from dealing with customers before learning about marketing skills, time management skills and leadership.

"The main attraction of working in Singapore is, of course, its currency, which allow me to save and invest for the future," she said when contacted.

She said other privileges made her continue to seek a living in the republic because of the safe and conducive environment, as well as the cleanliness and excellent public facilities.

"The Singapore government is very good at planning the country's development and has the best and most effective public systems and facilities.

"Singaporeans are also disciplined and have integrity. It is undeniable that there may be delays in certain matters, but it is not too serious. You could say that all aspects here are sufficient," she said.

Meanwhile, a marketing manager Mariah Salihin, 34, acknowledged that the currency factor was the main reason for migrating to the republic since 2020.

Mariah said her choice was very appropriate because she did not have to endure commuting to work since living in the republic was different from others who commuted back and forth from this city.

"It's easy to get to work, just a five-minute walk to the bus stop, then within 10 minutes, the bus arrives, and the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) service is always on time. It's very easy and time-saving to get to work," she added.
