MISI empowers talent with drone maintenance, repair skills
The programme saw strong participation, highlighting the increasing demand for specialised drone training and reaffirming the government’s commitment to upskilling Malaysian Indian talent for future-ready careers.

SHAH ALAM – The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MISI) continues its mission to empower Malaysian Indian talent by equipping individuals with high-value skills through the Drone Maintenance and Repair Proficiency Programme.
The training session aimed to bridge the industry gap by preparing participants for income-generating opportunities in the rapidly growing drone sector.
The programme saw strong participation, highlighting the increasing demand for specialised drone training and reaffirming the government’s commitment to upskilling Malaysian Indian talent for future-ready careers.
An initiative under the Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) through the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), MISI has successfully enrolled over 6,000 participants in high-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence, smart farming, and drone technology, catering to industry needs for skilled professionals.

With the drone industry expanding rapidly across construction, agriculture, infrastructure and mining, certified drone maintenance specialists and operators could access better employment opportunities, higher earnings and career progression.
The five-day (40-hour) training, certified by The Institute of Drone Technology (IDT), Australia, provides participants with hands-on experience in drone repair, maintenance and autonomous operations, ensuring they meet global safety and industry standards.
Participants also expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
One of the participants, R. Narrendra, 20, highlighted how drone technology revolutionised various industries, emphasising that initiatives like this equipped the workforce to lead in innovation.
“With drones being used widely in agriculture and inspection services, this certification gives me a competitive advantage in securing a job,” he added.
Meanwhile, K. Nalan, 20, who has been exploring career options, said that the programme provides new opportunities for him to explore jobs in the technology sector.
“I’m excited about this opportunity. Thank you, Kerajaan Madani,” he added.
Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are revolutionising business operations by enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving safety.
The programme will not only train participants in drone maintenance and repair but also equip them with essential knowledge on autonomous drone operations - ensuring they stay ahead in the evolving technological landscape.

In addition to this drone training programme, which was held recently at Institut Latihan Perindustrian Perai in Penang, there are more upcoming drone training sessions and other industry-specific programmes.
These include Professional Visual Effects (VFX) Makeup Training for Film and Television, IoT for Freelancers which will innovate and Monetise Smart Solutions and a range of other exciting training opportunities designed to equip talent with in-demand skills, creating new career and income prospects across various industries.
MISI’s impact goes beyond employment, fostering entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, and career advancement, ensuring long-term success for Malaysian Indian.
By empowering individuals, especially those with secondary or lower education, this initiative aligns with MISI’s mission to uplift the Malaysian Indian community through skills development, lifelong learning and employment opportunities.
