SHAH ALAM – Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli successfully defeated his opponent and won the position of Pandan division chief in the 2025 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party polls.

This victory has drawn widespread attention and is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Selangor and the nation.

According to the official results announced, out of 1,771 eligible voters in the Pandan division, a total of 1,334 ballot papers were issued.

Rafizi garnered strong support, securing 883 votes, far ahead of his challenger, Shahrom Musa, who only obtained 441 votes.

This landslide victory not only reflects the deep trust of Pandan division members in Rafizi’s vision and leadership but is also seen as a clear signal of the desire for change and reform in the party’s grassroots leadership.

Meanwhile, a surprising development occurred in the race for the position of Kapar division chief for the 2025–2028 term, when former Kapar Member of Parliament Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid failed to maintain his influence and lost in a tightly contested race.

According to the official results, out of 4,660 eligible voters in the Kapar division, a total of 3,020 ballot papers were issued.

The final results showed that Abdullah Sani secured only 618 votes, far behind the winner, Azizi Ayob, who obtained 1,580 votes.

Also contesting were Muhammad Huzaini Muhammad Rasid with 331 votes and M. Mathuraiveeran Marimuthu with 477 votes.

The defeat of Abdullah Sani, previously a key figure and elected representative for Kapar, undoubtedly came as a surprise to many.

He had long served and held significant influence in the area, and his failure to win the position of division chief has sparked various speculations regarding shifting support and the changing political dynamics within the grassroots level of PKR Kapar.

Yesterday, polling in Selangor was held across 22 divisions, with a total electorate of 92,619.

Today, PKR is holding elections in Perak, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak.
