"Police found her body in a dried canal near Siem Reap city yesterday," he said.

An autopsy found that she died from a cardiac arrest and her body has been given to the French Embassy, he said.

"There were no injuries on her body or any sign of abuse against her," Sok Meng Eang said, adding that her belongings, including her phone, were found at the site and that her clothes were in good condition.

French newspaper Depeche du Midi reported that the woman was partway through a trip attempting to go around the world without using planes.
