ZUS Indulgence Cake brings together chocolate lovers, coffee fans

Sometimes the toughest decision is choosing between chocolate and coffee but now, Malaysians no longer have to, thanks to a special collaboration between Secret Recipe and ZUS Coffee.

The partnership introduced the ZUS Indulgence Cake, which was a dessert that blends two icons into one irresistible creation.

A modern twist on Secret Recipe’s signature Chocolate Indulgence, the ZUS Indulgence Cake was layered with mocha sponge, milk chocolate cream, coffee mousse and coffee whipped cream, finished with a glossy chocolate topping.

The result was a decadent treat that celebrated the strengths of both homegrown brands.

At first glance, you might expect a bold coffee punch, but the coffee flavor here is gentle, just enough to give the chocolate a subtle, aromatic twist.

For non-coffee drinkers, it’s surprisingly approachable, with a flavor profile that’s reminiscent of a classic tiramisu: creamy, rich, and indulgent without being overpowering.

Secret Recipe head of marketing Evelyn Lee said Secret Recipe has always been proud to be a Malaysian staple and this collaboration with ZUS allowed them to showcase the strength of Made-In-Malaysia brands.

“The ZUS Indulgence Cake offers our customers a dessert that is indulgent, innovative and proudly homegrown.

"We hope to inspire Malaysians to continue supporting and celebrating local brands that strive to bring new and exciting experiences to the table,” she said.

Furthermore, the collaboration also extended to its presentation as the ZUS Indulgence Cake came in specially designed packaging featuring ZUS Coffee’s iconic blue alongside the Malaysian flag.

The exclusive boxes were available for both whole cakes and individual slices, which gave the dessert a patriotic flair just in time for Malaysia Day.

"With the ZUS Indulgence Cake, we are taking that experience beyond the cup — blending our passion for coffee with Secret Recipe’s mastery of cakes,” said ZUS Coffee head of marketing Jennifer Sim.

Additionally, she also added that this collaboration was a true reflection of how local brands can innovate together to bring Malaysians indulgence that felt both familiar and refreshingly new.

Available at RM142 for an eight-inch whole cake and RM13.50 per slice, the ZUS Indulgence Cake are available at selected Secret Recipe outlets.
