PETALING JAYA – A 14-year-old student has been charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday with the murder of a 16-year-old female student in a stabbing incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama last week.
The Form One (transition class) student, dressed in an orange lock-up uniform, nodded to indicate understanding after the charge was read to him in Mandarin before Magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
According to the charge, the juvenile is accused of murdering a Form Three (transition class) student inside cubicle number two of the school’s restroom in Bandar Utama between 9.20am and 9.35am on Oct 14.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for life or a term determined by the court upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin prosecuted the case, while the accused was represented by lawyer Anwar Ezzad Zainal.
No bail was granted and the court set Nov 21 for case mention.
Media attempts to photograph the accused were unsuccessful as the minor was brought to court through an alternative entrance.
In the Oct 14 incident, the female student was found dead in a school toilet. Authorities suspect she was repeatedly stabbed by the teenage boy, who attended the same school.

According to Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, a preliminary post-mortem report from the University Malaya Medical Centre established the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the victim's chest and neck.
