KUALA LUMPUR – GX Bank Berhad (GXBank), the nation's first digital bank, is marking its second anniversary by demonstrating significant scale and financial impact, announcing it has secured over one million transaction customers and facilitated over 220 million transactions in its second year of operation.

The bank is positioning itself as a core utility for the financially underserved, with its rapid growth validating its technology-first, inclusive approach.

RM24 million earned: Proving the value of resilience

GXBank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kaushik Chowdhury stated that the bank’s ambition to revolutionise the industry is being realised through tangible impact.

"The trust placed in us is humbling and it validates our belief...the true value of technology in finance must translate into meaningful access and effectively serve the financially underserved.

"We are quietly but surely proving that our use of AI and data is about the essential utility that ensures the financially underserved are finally being served," he said at the GXBank second anniversary celebration held at the city centre here yesterday.

The bank’s metrics highlight direct financial resilience for consumers:

  • Customer Earnings: Customers collectively earned RM24 million in interest in 2025.
  • Credit Utilisation: Since launching FlexiCredit, the product has seen over 120,000 drawdowns. The bank noted that over 60 per cent of these drawdowns were used for unexpected emergencies, such as medical bills or car repairs.
  • Behavioural Change: Based on internal surveys, almost 50 per cent of FlexiCredit users are reporting improved money habits and better credit scores through timely payments.

GXBank Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hildah Hamzah said the bank’s successful foray into the commercial sector, leveraging its digital framework to streamline lending for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"In fact, since the launch of GX FlexiLoan in September, RM25 million has been disbursed to our MSMEs.

"We are now seeing MSMEs successfully opening an account and applying for loans within eight minutes, which was previously unheard of," she said.

The bank attributes these gains to its advanced security and AI features, including Adaptive Authentication, Predictive Fraud Prompts and Active Selfie Checks, which enable faster onboarding, credit approvals and renewals while minimising risks.

Second anniversary campaign: Doubling down on value

To commemorate the milestone, GXBank launched its 1,000,000+ Impian Malaysia campaign, focusing on delivering sustained financial value:

  • Bonus Pocket: Limited-time offer of four per cent p.a. interest (two per cent p.a. daily base interest + two p.a. bonus interest)
  • GX Biz Banking: Three per cent p.a. daily interest on business deposits, with a zero per cent interest on the first month's loan repayment

"This is a focused, actionable plan to tackle the most persistent barriers to financial empowerment," Hildah added, emphasising the commitment to providing flexible financing and operational partnerships where they are needed most.

The bank also reaffirmed its commitment to social impact through its Impian GIGih programme, which has awarded bursaries to more than 1,700 underprivileged students and currently sponsors 18 students in their tertiary education.
