ABU DHABI - Lewis Hamilton completed his first Formula 1 season without a podium finish on Sunday, but said he was not a quitter despite a nightmare first year at Ferrari, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The seven-times champion has looked a shadow of his former self, finishing sixth in the standings.

It was one place higher than his final season at Mercedes, although he at least won two races in 2024.

One of the few positives for the Briton this season has been his fans.

"I've had amazing support from so many people who travel around the world to support me, my fans have been what's kept me going, they've been my rock, my family have been phenomenal supporters, he told Sky.

The 40-year-old hopes new engine rules next year will bump him up the pack if the Italian glamour team has a good off-season.

"Luckily, I have got good people around me. Each weekend, I see kids and adults rooting me on and reminding me why I do what I do, which is not to give up, and I am really appreciative," Hamilton added, after an eighth place in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
