Medical team satisfied with Dr Mahathir’s recovery progress
The centenarian is still undergoing non-surgical physiotherapy treatment. However, he added that the recovery process is expected to take quite some time.

KUALA LUMPUR - The medical team and specialist doctors overseeing the treatment of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad are pleased with the progress of his recovery following 14 days of hospitalisation at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Dr Mahathir’s press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, said the centenarian is still undergoing non-surgical physiotherapy treatment. However, he added that the recovery process is expected to take quite some time.
"Dr Mahathir and his family are deeply grateful for the well-wishes and prayers for his swift recovery. They also wish to apologise as hospital visits are currently limited to immediate family members, in accordance with the advice of medical specialists,” Sufi said in a statement today.
The 100-year-old statesman was admitted to IJN on Jan 6 after he was reported to have fallen at his residence in The Mines, Seri Kembangan, and was confirmed to have suffered a fracture to his right hip bone.
Following consultations with specialist doctors from IJN, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, and Kuala Lumpur Hospital, it was determined that non-surgical physiotherapy would be the most suitable treatment option for him. - BERNAMA
