Singapore sees 10 per cent drop in corruption reports in 2025
90 individuals were prosecuted in court for offences.
SINGAPORE - Singapore recorded 160 corruption-related reports in 2025, a 10 per cent decline from 177 cases registered in the preceding year, according to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
In a statement on Tuesday, CPIB said it also registered 68 reports as new cases for investigation last year, based on the quality of the relevant information provided.
CPIB said that of the 160 corruption-related reports received in 2025, 56 (35 per cent) were anonymous, while 16 cases (24 per cent) of the 68 new reports were also anonymous.
"Of the 68 cases registered for investigation in 2025, one involved the public sector. 22 cases involved public sector employees rejecting bribes offered by members of the public," it said.
CPIB noted that 90 individuals were prosecuted in court for offences investigated by the agency in 2025, of whom 84 were from the private sector, while the remaining six were public sector employees.
"Based on the cases of private sector employees prosecuted in court for corruption-related offences over the past 10 years, construction, manufacturing, transportation and storage were the main industries vulnerable to corruption," it said.
CPIB emphasised that Singapore continued to be well-regarded internationally for its anti-corruption approach and efforts.
The latest 2025 Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (TI-CPI) ranked Singapore as the third least corrupt country out of 182 countries, with a score of 84 out of 100, unchanged from the preceding year, it added. - BERNAMA
