As the local concert scene continues to thrive in Malaysia, more and more senior Malaysian acts who peaked in the 90s and early 2000s have been taking advantage of this wave. After the likes of legendary names like Ella, Fauziah Latiff and many others, Penang-Born chanteuse Nourul Wahab-Depp also took to the stage at ‘For You Nourul’, her first major solo concert in Kuala Lumpur.

Born Noorulhuda Abdul Wahab, the star who now goes by the monicker Nourul entertained an audience of 1000 people at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday, May 30. The show which was much-awaited by her adoring fans saw Nourul proving why she was one of the celebrated singers in the Malay pop arena since her debut in 1995.

Delivering a repertoire of about 25 songs throughout the entire evening, the concert allowed Nourul to live out her life-long dream of holding a big concert for her fans while also giving her a chance to demonstrate her vocal prowess.

The show was well choreographed and artistically planned with a many pleasant surprises. Kicking off with a special choir performance of some of her past hits, Nourul then took centre stage singing some of her fast numbers including Impianku and Tika Cinta which was later followed by one of her biggest Ballads of the 90s Cinta Azali.

She also had a special tribute segment for some of the Malaysian singers who inspired her to become an entertainer as she belted out a medley consisting of Aishah's Janji Manismu, Ramlah Ram's Kau Kunci Cintaku, Ella's Sembilu and Ziana Zain's Madah Berhelah which received a rapturous applause as she reached the highest note of the song.

Much to Nourul's delight, her rendition of Madah Berhelah also received a big applause form the original singer Ziana Zain who was also present that evening.

The concert continued with a special international segment where Nourul sang a French single called Aujourd'hui which is taken from her digital French album released in 2018 before singing Celine Dion's That's The Way It Is.

What made Nourul's concert most interesting were her talented guest artistes. This included her own son Zachary Depp who sang the late Sudirman's Joget Kenangan Manis.

However, what made Nourul's concert most interesting were her talented guest artistes. This included her own son Zachary Depp who sang the late Sudirman's Joget Kenangan Manis, while looking dashing in his Baju Melayu attire and dancing to his own style. A big hit among the crowd, Zacahry looked very comfirtable on the big stage and we are certain that we may see more of him in the near future.

The next guest stars were two of her fans, husband and wife pair Suzy and Wan, who were chosen from a contest Nourul held in search of duet partners for the evening. And then Mimi Fly truly set the stage on fire with her energetic solo performance of Temberang before performing a few numbers from Nourul's past duet albums with her former husband, Ajai. Mimi and Nourul gave new life to the songs on stage as they sang Persamaan, Maafkan Ku and the infectious award-winning Keliru.

The star then walked down to the audience and did an impromptu rendition of Selagi Ada Cinta, another award-winning song which she wrote for Malaysian Soprano Superstar, Ning Baizura who was also present and graciously sang with Nourul to everyone's delight. Both of their flawless vocals mesmerised the entire auditorium, validating their undeniable talent.

Nourul who was beautifully dressed in a couture garment by local husband and wife designers, Wan and Mary then proceeded the night with some of her other past ballads before closing the evening with Aku Cinta Aku Rindu, originally a duet recorded with Ajai but beautifully transformed by the star that evening into a track that sounded like it was her solo single all along.

After introducing her latest release called Andai Ku Kenaliku composed by Yassin Sulaiman and written by Eena Houzyama, Nourul ended the night with her debut and biggest Malay pop ballad Kerana Terluka, which captivated her audience who sang along as they bid her goodbye.

Truly, the concert was testament of Nourul's perseverance and it proved that her hard work really paid off.

"It was really worthwhile. I am very happy that this 32 year old dream finally came to life. Thank you to everyone who came and supported my efforts," said the star when she was met backstage after the concert.
