IPOH - Stern enforcement action will be taken against any local residents found renting out their business premises to Rohingya refugees to carry illegal business activities in Perak.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this is because business licences issued by the authorities to any individual cannot be transferred or used by other parties, whether locals or foreigners, including refugees.

"This matter is usually within the jurisdiction of the local authorities (PBT) and will be enforced in accordance with the stipulated regulations and laws.

"Some locals take the easy way out by renting out their premises instead of running their own businesses,” he said after attending the 2026 Perak Government Customer Day Programme Series 4 at Stadium Indera Mulia here today.

He said that if violations occur, it constitutes a breach of licensing conditions and may result in action, including licence revocation under the jurisdiction of the local authorities.

In another development, he said the state government has allocated RM1.374 million as incentives for 324 retired civil servants who completed their service between January 1 and Dec 31, 2025.

According to him, the incentive provision involves retirees from the state civil service, local authorities and eligible state statutory bodies as appreciation for their services and contributions to the government.

He added that each retiree will receive RM4,000 in the form of Premier Savings Certificates (SSP). - BERNAMA
