inDrive Malaysia hits record 1.2 million completed rides in May
inDrive Malaysia achieves its highest monthly ride volume, secures its operations license until 2028, and maintains a competitive 10.99% driver commission rate.

KUALA LUMPUR - E-hailing services platform, inDrive Malaysia, has recorded more than 1.2 million completed rides in May 2026, marking its highest monthly ride volume to date.
In a presentation to the media, inDrive Malaysia country lead, Govin Kumaar said that compared with January 2026, the platform’s completed rides increased by 8.7 per cent, active driver-partners grew by 10.2 per cent, and passenger numbers rose by 1.9 per cent.
On a month-on-month basis, the active driver base grew by 5.5 per cent in May 2026, while passenger numbers increased by 1.1 per cent compared with April 2026.
The company also announced the successful renewal of its ride-hailing operations licence, allowing inDrive to continue serving Malaysians until 2028.
In a press conference later, Govin said the company is mulling over expanding its services in Malaysia, although it has yet to decide whether offerings such as courier services will be introduced.
"For now, we cannot confirm what other services are coming to Malaysia as we are concentrating on e-hailing for now,” he said, while declining to disclose inDrive Malaysia's market share.
He emphasised that the company is focusing on innovation and empowering drivers to maximise their earnings, adding that inDrive’s platform is different from other e-hailing platforms.
"Under its peer-to-peer pricing model, passengers are shown a recommended fare after entering their destination, but both passengers and drivers can adjust the amount before agreeing on a final price.
"For example, if I offer RM20 for a ride from point A to point B and the driver wants RM25, the driver can counter and offer RM25. The passenger then has the option to accept or reject the price. That is what makes it different,” he said.
Driver operations manager Azlan Anwar said inDrive Malaysia is currently among the country's top three e-hailing players.
"We only take a 10.99 per cent commission rate from our drivers, so drivers can retain a larger portion of the fares they earn from our platform.
"This is below the 20 per cent ceiling rate allowed by the regulator,” he said.
He added that inDrive Malaysia conducted a limited-time one per cent commission campaign in the Klang Valley from April to May 2026 to help driver-partners retain a larger share of their earnings. - BERNAMA
