Man tests positive for drugs after crashing motorcycle into HSNZ emergency zone

KUALA TERENGGANU - A 28-year-old man tested positive for methamphetamine after allegedly losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into the glass door of the Emergency Zone (Green Zone) at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) in the early hours of Tuesday.
Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, said police received a report about the incident from an Assistant Medical Officer at 5.03am.
Initial investigations found that the crash occurred at around 3am when the suspect was riding a Yamaha Nouvo LC motorcycle from Jalan Sultan Mahmud towards the hospital's emergency zone.
"Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred at about 3am when the suspect, who was riding a Yamaha Nouvo LC motorcycle, was travelling from Jalan Sultan Mahmud towards the hospital's emergency zone.
"Upon arriving at the location, the motorcycle ridden by the man suddenly lost control and crashed into the glass door at the green zone, causing the suspect to suffer minor injuries to both his right and left hands," he said.
A subsequent urine screening test confirmed that the suspect had tested positive for methamphetamine.
Further checks also revealed that the motorcycle involved belonged to the suspect's elder brother. Police additionally discovered that the vehicle's road tax had expired on 22 April 2025.
Azli said the suspect remains in a hospital ward while receiving treatment for his injuries.
"The police are still conducting further investigations into the status of the suspect's driving licence and employment, and the case is currently classified under Rule 10 LN 166/59," he said.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
