Johor state election: Adham Baba offers experience as Health Minister
He said the combination of experienced and new candidates fielded by BN in the 16th Johor state election is believed to be capable of enhancing development efforts more comprehensively.

JOHOR BAHRU – Former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Parit Raja state seat said his extensive experience in government administration will be used to strengthen the state development agenda under Maju Johor 2030.
He said the combination of experienced and new candidates fielded by BN in the 16th Johor state election is believed to be capable of enhancing development efforts more comprehensively.
According to him, the approach is important to ensure that every development plan can be implemented more effectively and deliver a direct impact to the people.
“Thank you to the Umno president, party leadership and state leadership for presenting a combination of experienced and young candidates to realise the Maju Johor 2030 mission.
“I am confident this combination will further strengthen the state’s development efforts,” he said after the candidate announcement at the Johor Umno Office on Wednesday.
He also stressed that development under the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) must benefit the entire state in a balanced manner, including northern Johor.
“We want this development spillover not to be concentrated only in the south, but also felt in the northern areas of Johor,” he said.
Commenting on the challenges of the election, Adham said the advantage would go to candidates who can consistently engage and connect with voters.
Adham said one of his proudest achievements as a former elected representative was strengthening the higher education sector in his previous constituency.
“When I was an assemblyman from 2008 to 2014, I brought forward the education development agenda, including strengthening Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Johor, which has now grown into Kolej Universiti Yayasan Pelajaran Johor.
“I also proposed the establishment of a university in Johor and more recently brought in Johor Skills Training Institute (Skill Johor) in the Ladang Yayasan area. The agenda of elevating excellence in higher education institutions has always been close to me,” he said.
