Previously, Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad had said that a man feared drowned, was suspected of being involved in cable theft activities with a friend, at a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) substation at the dam.

Investigations revealed that the victim left home at 2.30pm yesterday looking for some material for a broom in the area near the river before falling in and drowning.

The body was later handed over to the police for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure of a child in a manner likely to cause physical and emotional injury.
