A deliveryman was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today after pleading guilty to injuring sports journalist and National Press Club deputy president Haresh Deol in November last year.

A 37-year-old delivery man has pleaded guilty to assaulting veteran journalist Haresh Deol in an incident at Bangsar on Tuesday (Nov 25).

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the incident reflected a new and worrying trend in which individuals who voiced critical views become vulnerable to retaliation, including violence.
