SHAH ALAM – In the spirit of togetherness, several Hindu devotees celebrating Thaipusam ended up helping a Malay woman give birth in her car within the vicinity of the Sri Subramaniyar Temple, Batu Caves, last Tuesday.

The incident was recorded by Makkal Ossai journalist LK Savantharaja who also had helped the woman in question.

The birth occurred just as a procession was carried out in tandem with religious rituals and ceremonies within the temple ground.

In his Facebook post, Savanthjara recalled many devotees helped by providing aid to the mother who was also accompanied by her husband.

Savantharaja also stated he had even found a knife to cut the umbilical cord of the baby.

It was also reported that an ambulance had arrived after the birth of the baby and subsequently help to ferry the newborn and its parents to the hospital.

The kind-hearted actions by Savantharaja along with several other devotees have since made national news, showcasing the true Malaysian spirit of celebrating each races unique cultures while peacefully coexisting.
