SHAH ALAM - A product marketing manager at Google for Education was forced out of her role in the company for protesting against the Google Israeli military contract.

Ariel Koren’s ordeal garnered over 500 Google workers to sign a petition in support of their colleague who claimed that she was forced to change her job after criticising the company for sealing the deal with Israel.

Koren also tweeted about the issue.

"Right after I helped organise against unethical contracts (and two days after returning from disability leave), Google gave me 17 days to commit to moving to Sao Paulo—or else lose my job. Over 500 workers have petitioned, but Google has yet to rescind the act of retaliation," she wrote.

According to a source, Koren said she was having issues with Google since May, last year, when Israel bombed Gaza and she called for the company to express solidarity with Palestinians.

Google and Amazon web services were reported to have provided the Israeli military and government with cloud services through Project Nimbus.
