PM, PH committed to pass anti-hopping bill next week

SHAH ALAM - The much-awaited anti-hopping Bill will be tabled this Monday (April 11), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has assured Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders.

This was stated in a statement released by Pakatan Harapan (PH) today after its component parties' top leadership met with the prime minister in the morning.

The statement - signed by PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Amanah President Mohamad Sabu, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke and UPKO President Datuk Seri Madius Tangau - said they had met him to seek clarification on the status of the Federal Constitution (Amendments) 2022 Bill on Anti-Party Hopping which was scheduled for April 11, 2022.

The statement said Ismail Sabri gave his commitment that there will be no changes for the special Dewan Rakyat sitting.

“The PH Presidential Council has also given its full commitment that all PH MPs will support the bill and to amend the Constitutional Amendment,” it said.

The statement further said that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also raised the issue of MySejahtera, the contact-tracing app which is owned by a private company.

“A full explanation on the matter must be provided to the Dewan Rakyat,” he said.
