SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan (PH) says there is no space for compromise when it comes to the anti-hopping law as it is the main condition of their memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government.

The PH presidential council has urged the Prime Minister once more to state his commitment that the Bill will be tabled in Parliament in the near future.

The council said the date of the second special session should be set and announced in Parliament on April 11.

PH also pledged the coalition’s support for the proposed amendments to Article 10 of the Federal Constitution, it said in a statement today.

“The presidential council understands a need for the constitutional amendments to be first passed on Monday but ultimately the government must honour its commitment under the MoU with PH,” the statement read.

PH also urged the responsible ministers for tabling the amendment to the Constitution on April 11 to state clearly in Parliament the basic principles of the Bill, which will be tabled and approved in the second special session later.

"PH believes once the anti-hopping law is passed, the people’s trust in the electoral process and parliamentary democracy will be able to begin to be restored,” it said.

The statement was signed by Opposition Leader and PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Amanah President Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and UPKO Datuk Seri Madius Tangau.
