SINTOK - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) fully supports Rasuah Busters’ effort to educate the public against corruption, especially among students of higher education institutes.

Its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah said as a renowned university in the country, he wanted to ensure graduates were not only academically brilliant but morally as well.

According to him, the movement from the people for the people needed to be accepted by all to ensure a generation of higher integrity among the public.

"UUM does not want to only nurture future chief executive officers (CEO), technocrat, bureaucrat but we want to nurture people whose hearts are always praising Allah.

"I hope this campaign will be well accepted by everyone out there.

"I've always said, even through blood, sweat and tears we do not falter because we love our country and we all know our responsibilities and will realise them," he said.

He said this while receiving a courtesy visit from Rasuah Busters at the Sultan Salehuddin Chancellery Building, UUM yesterday.

Commenting further, Dr Haim hoped the programme would go well and welcomed the campaign to be held at the university again in the future.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Sinar For Malaysia (#RasuahBusters) Nurhayati Nordin said UUM was the first public university to work directly with them physically since the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Nurhayati said Rasuah Busters aimed to work together with the management of public and private universities throughout the country.

"Rasuah Busters focuses on youths especially students since they are among the largest communities in this movement and campaign.

"After spreading public awareness to the communities at random, we will focus on those with exceptional academic performance. They are going to be future leaders," she said.
