SHAH ALAM - Malaysia records 5,230 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's Covidnow website.

The number comprised of 5,219 local cases and 11 imported case.

Aside from the increasing number of reported cases, eight deaths due to Covid-19 were reported, bringing the total number of deaths in Malaysia to 35,844 since the pandemic began.

Currently there are 41,208 active Covid-19 infections in the country, with 96.3 per cent of patients, or 39,703 individuals being quarantined at home.

Another 1,411 were hospitalised with 44 patients required ventilator support.

The Health Ministry also recorded 2,927 patients who recovered yesterday.

To date, Malaysia recorded 4,592,710 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.
