SHAH ALAM – After chickens and 1kg oil packets, now there seems to be a shortage of paracetamols in the market, according to a survey by Sinar Ahad at several pharmacies.

The pills are said to be on demand to relieve fever and headache due to the increase in influenza-like-illness (ILI) in the country.

A pharmacist, Norliza said Covid-19 patients were buying the pills. She said some may be stocking up as Covid cases are on the rise again.

“The demand has been extremely high and the current supply is not enough to meet the public demand,” she told Sinar Ahad.

Meanwhile, another pharmacist Haleeza said, other than paracetamol, there was a shortage of medicines for sore throat and cough. due to lack of supply.

“It's the influenza season now, so those who were infected will look for drugs to relieve the pain.

“When a lot of medicines ran out and supplies are late, people will start complaining to us but we do not know why the suppliers are not sending it to us,” she said.
