He said the pandemic has ended.
"When (will elections be held)? We have been consistent that we want the people's mandate (to elect the government).
"We want to remind all that when PH collapsed (in 2020), we wanted elections. We need to return the rakyat's mandate. We have been consistent," he said.
He further said this is not his decision or his deputy's Muhamad Hassan decision but Umno's decision to have an election.
"We must return to Umno. The decision of the party is the decision of all as this is a collective decision.
"There should not be a party within a party," he said.
He further added he will not tolerate traitors as long as he is the Umno president.
"I could have been a 'frog' to save myself, the same goes for others here but we choose to be loyal to save Umno," he said.
He said Umno must return to the dominant party as stability and prosperity of the country can only be achieved under Umno.
"This can be seen in Melaka and Johor after the states' foreign direct investment (FDI) increased tremendously," he said.
He also reminded those attended the meeting to be calm with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as he has done his best.
"Although the current PM is our vice president, it does not mean that we have full power over the government.
"The government is not ours fully but a hybrid government that is filled by other parties," he said.
He reiterated the demands of Umno are demands of the party as a whole it will bring benefit to all races in Malaysia.
He urged Umno supporters to ensure success in the coming general elections as a manifesto of justice for Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Zahid suggested four immediate steps - to carry out a campaign for Najib, to give him words of encouragement and gratitude.
"This will be collected as the people's letter to him," he said.
Secondly, support Najib's pardon petition campaign.
The third was to publish all of Najib's writings on his social media and finally to be prepared for elections.
The 2pm meeting saw leaders touching on Najib's unjust imprisonment as one of its main agendas.
Also present were Umno's deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, vice president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Umno Wanita chief Datin Seri Noraini Ahmad, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos, Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin as well as other division chiefs and supporters.
Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and her daughter Nooryana Najwa were also present.
