SHAH ALAM – Despite Prisons Department saying that inmates cannot release any statements including matters related to the 15th General Election (GE15), incarcerated former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is still seen actively posting updates on his Facebook page.

Just today, checks on Najib's page saw that the former premier had posted seven updates on his official account, which mostly comprised of postings directed to Gerakan Tanah Air chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

At about 4pm, Najib had lambasted Dr Mahathir over his statement that mobile phones should be banned during polling day.

"Phones with cameras have been around for over 20 years. When PH won GE14, the device had also existed.

"Why (is it) when Tun M was the PM7 (7th Prime Minister), he did not ban it?"

A couple of hours earlier, he criticised opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's pardon by the royal institution as well as Pakatan Harapan (PH), whom he claimed had been portrayed to be "violating everything including the Federal Constitution."

"That is why Anwar's pardon is being challenged in court because it is alleged to be in violation of the Federal Constitution.

"PH always says they will follow the 'Rule of Law', but the reality is that they are violating everything, including the Federal Constitution," he said.

Prior to that, another post on Najib’s social page from the same day called on fellow Malaysians to follow Muda founder Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s suggestion to "dump PH and re-elect BN."

"Still remember Syed Saddiq's message and promise regarding PH?"

He quoted the youth politician who said, "If we fail, throw us out and re-elect BN."

While it was understood that the postings were made by administrators who ran the page on behalf of Najib, it was still seen as coming from the veteran politician’s point of view.

Earlier, Prisons Department director (Prisons Policy) Supri Hashim said inmates who were undergoing their sentence including the former sixth prime minister was not allowed to release any statements.

He said all letters as well as documents released must be filtered.

Malaysia Prison Department Director-General Datuk Nordin Muhammad had also said the Najib was constantly subjected to the laws and regulations while serving his prison sentence.

The Federal Court upheld the 12-year prison sentence and the RM210 million fine on Najib regarding the misappropriation of SRC International funds.
