SHAH ALAM - The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's decision to cut the salary and allowance for Prime Minister if the coalition wins in the 15th General Election (GE15) are seen as just a political gimmick.

BN Communications Director Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Annuar Nasarah said if the responsibilities were done well, it was the right of the prime minister or the ministers to obtain their salary.

He stated the people wanted their importance to be defended and the country's position to be propelled forward.

"The political action and gimmick that would not bring much gain for the people are no longer wanted by them.

"Malaysians are smarter, what they want is a leader that could bring stability to the country. The people want prosperity in their future," he said in a post on Facebook, on Friday.

Anwar in his previous speech at the Harapan Convention in Ipoh Convention Centre, Perak, stated his decision to do so because he had taken into consideration the economic situation claimed to take a toll on the people.

He said the salary cut would be done for all of the minister lineup as well as the Cabinet size would be reduced.

Shamsul said Anwar was described as having the same character as the former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who he claimed became the source of many problems in the country.
